Welcome to HikersBlog.co.uk – an outdoor blog with gear reviews, trip reports and photos run by a group of Irish hiking and camping enthusiasts.
HikersBlog started as a way for our group of friends to document our travels together. Eventually we started sharing our views on hiking equipment. We hope you’ll find value in the gear insights of a group of ordinary people who like getting out in the hills.
Gear Reviews That Go The Distance
We won’t be out climbing Everest or trekking to the South Pole, but we understand that longevity of your kit is likely more important to you than whether or not it can handle 8000m.
We aren’t set up as a “gear mill” with a constant influx of new items, and we hold onto our kit for as long as we can.
That’s why many of our reviews have long term updates, some of them 10+ years later!
We understand that while marketing about “extreme conditions” can be impressive, a much more salient concern for many is:
“If I spend the extra money on this kit, will I still be able to count on it in 10/15+ years?”
We aim to answer that question with confidence, by getting out and walking the walk, year after year and letting you know how the equipment holds up.
Free of Advertising Clutter & Hosted on Powerful Servers
We keep our site free of the usual cluttered ad bombardment, so it loads faster on your device and is a more comfortable, distraction free read. This does cost us in terms of reduced earnings, but we think it’s worth it.
